Tornado Gas Saver Scam

Louise’s question:

I’ve got a bet with my husband. He wants to buy one of those Tornado gas saver devices that you put under the hood of your car to get better gas mileage. I think he’s wasting his money on such a gimmick. What do you think of the Tornado device?

Answer:

Guess what, you win the bet. Those devices are a giant joke. They’ve been around for years, but they don’t do anything more than waste your money if you buy one. I tested one out years ago on a dynomometer and they did absolutely nothing to make the car get better gas mileage. And Road And Track magazine did the same thing years ago with two identical buicks on a race track. One had the tornado device on it, and the other didn’t. They drove both cars the same distance. Then they switched the devices from one buick to the other and did the same test. Both cars got the same gas mileage, regardless of whether they had the “magic” device on them or not. So don’t waste your money on this or just about any other “gas mileage gimmick” out there.
