1993 Ford Econoline 350 Low Side AC Filling Point

Santiago’s question:

“Own a 1993 ford econoline 350 1 ton and i am having a hard time finding the low side of the ac to add the refrigerant. it is a conversion van. can you tell me where to find where to add the refrigerant? thanks.”

Answer:

The low side fitting has to be somewhere between the AC compressor and the AC evaporator going into the dash. That is the low pressure line, it sucks the refrigerant from the evaporator into the compressor. Sometimes the fitting is right on the compressor, and sometimes it’s on the line going into the compressor. The suction line is the fatter of the two lines, the high pressure line is smaller in diameter. If you trace that line from the compressor back to the evaporator, you will find an add port. Get a BIG flashlight so you don’t miss it (I personally use a million candle power light that connects to the vehicle’s battery and it lights everything up like a searchlight.
