What is best wire gauge for car electrical system

Pete’s question:

” HI MATE, I WANTED TO KNOW THAT AS I DONT KNOW WHAT TYPE OF WIRES ARE USED IN MY CAR, CAN I USE THE MAXIMUM AMP/GAUGE WIRE FOR REWIRING MY CAR ON ALL CONNECTIONS OR WHAT THAT MAKE A DIFFERENCE?”

Answer:

Thicker gauge wires work great for large power loads like starters and alternators. Using a large gauge wire on other systems is overkill, but won’t hurt most applications. But on low power applications like fuel injectors, you’re best to use the same small gauge that was originally on them as the computer circuits that operate them don’t use much power and can be overwhelmed by the resistance of larger gauge wires.
