1990 Vauxhall Cavalier MAP sensor (fault codes 33 and 44)

kkzxxx’s question:

“I have 1990 Vauxhall Cavalier and the problem is with the MAP sensor, at first i got fault code 33, meaning low vacuum, now after ive changed the MAP sensor it shows code 34 too much vacuum, theres also code 44, meaning mixture is weak, but i dont think its related, seems more like a fuel pump to me.”

Answer:

They don’t sell Vauxhalls here in the states, so I’ve got no experience in them. BUT, for some advice, you’ll need to find out what voltage the feed and return lines to the MAP are supposed to be. You’ll need an information system for Vauxhalls, and I don’t have any here as they don’t sell them so my information system doesn’t have any data to help you. It could be the computer is bad and sending the wrong info to the sensor, or the wiring to or from the sensor is bad, OR you got a bum new sensor (it does happen rather frequently these days.) Without such basic voltage data you’ll just be guessing what’s really wrong. good luck,
